BASIC PERSONALITY: A dreamer at heart, Arcana always sees the silver lining and is generally optimistic. Outgoing, sweet and naïve, she is also a firm believer in that there is some good in everyone. She is empathic and cares greatly for her loved ones, but not to the degree of being needlessly self-sacrificing. In fact, she can be rather selfish, putting her own needs before those of others most of the time, and has a tendency to believe that she knows better than everyone else. Highly intelligent, she is devoted to schoolwork and never hands in an assignment late. In fact, being late when it comes to anything is something she detests, and she would rather be half an hour early than five minutes late. In addition to this, she is ambitious and strong-minded, never letting anything get in her way once she has decided to do something. She is the kind of person who comes off as confident, but is really not at all. She is extremely self-conscious and loathes her appearance, but usually pretends not to care at all.

BIOGRAPHY: Arcana was born at St. Mungo’s on the 6th of March 1961, the second child of Aerin and Galerius Lovegood. From an early age, the girl proved herself to be unusually clever, learning to read by the time she was 4. She always felt as though she was being treated like a baby, however, since her older brother Xenophilius was the one expected to do great things. This only got worse the year he went to Hogwarts, and Arcana felt like there was nothing she could do to impress her family.
Finally, two years later, her Hogwarts letter arrived and she was allowed to go with her brother to the school. Unsurprisingly, she was sorted into Ravenclaw, and soon developed a reputation among her peers from being a bit of a nerd. However, she still felt as though she could not meet her parents’ expectations, and the idea occurred to her that she would have to be perfect. That, to the 12 year old Arcana, included earning top grades, being nice and sweet at all times and looking beautiful. The latter eventually became the focus of her world, and by the time she was 13, not eating had become an obsession.
Fortunately, her mother figured out that there was a problem the following summer. Arcana was angry and insisted nothing was wrong, which caused a huge argument between the two. Her mother won, however, and the girl’s eating habits were carefully monitored, which made her feel like she had no freedom at all. At one time, she tried to run away and did not return for almost a week, but was found by her father and brought back home. Two years later, she has realized that her family has only been trying to help her, but is still struggling to recover from the disorder.

RP SAMPLE:
A degree of introversion and humility were certainly not bad qualities in themselves. There were some people who drew these qualities to an extreme extent, however, causing them to have difficulties maintaining a simple conversation without stumbling over every second word and silently wishing to sink into a hole in the ground almost constantly. Marion was one of those people. How her social awkwardness had begun wasn’t easy to say, but ever since she had been a child, the blonde had preferred to keep to herself rather than spend time outside with the other kids. The only exception to the rule was her twin sister, but once they went to Hogwarts and were sorted into different houses, Marion had been forced to find another way to spend her free time. The solution had very quickly become obvious to her: the library.
Reading had always been something of a passion of hers, so having the opportunity to wander down here and read whatever she wanted to – almost literally, as there were probably tens of thousands of books standing around – was heavenly. Almost every single day, the moment her classes ended, she would head straight to the library and, as if performing some kind of age old ritual, she would stop briefly just inside the library, look once to her left, once to her right, gaze at the shelves for exactly seven seconds and then walk over and pick up whatever book she ended up looking at. If she needed a particular book for doing homework, she would have to locate it after picking up the first book. Why she did this wasn’t something even she was sure of, but it was a habit, and she saw no reason to stop now.
Today, she was seated next to a row of books containing information on various magical creatures. A thick book on dragonology lay on the table in front of her, opened on page seventy-four. Dragons weren’t technically a topic that had fascinated her much, but she had decided to give the book a chance anyway for the simple reason that she had finished her homework and Dorcas was busy, so Marion had nothing better to do with her time. They also happened to be very beautiful creatures, these dragons, so even if this book wasn’t all that interesting, at least the illustrations would provide inspiration if she decided to sit down and draw later. In all honesty, looking at the illustrations was all she was really doing, flicking through the pages without taking the time to look at what was written there.
In less than fifteen minutes, she reached the last page and closed the book with a soft sigh. Ah well. Rising from her seat, she brushed a loose strand of hair out of her face before turning around to put the book back where she had found it. Easy enough. Then, she proceeded to walk away from those particular shelves and towards the Restricted Section. Since she was a well-liked student by most teachers, she was allowed to read what she liked there, but she still felt a bit odd about it every time. All the books about dark magic and evil curses were really quite frightening, especially with everything that was going on in the wizarding world at the moment. It was fascinating, though, endlessly more so than reading about various types of dragons and how to recognize them by studying their bones, so she decided she wanted to have a look anyway.
